Flow with me for a second and I'll show you...

If you resist Fire, you will often put down your ideas and not even give them a chance. If I were to say to you, “Come up with ten new ways to innovate your role at work," you would likely roll your eyes and think, what a dull exercise. It is like the mind thinks there is only “one right answer”  or that "there is no point cause nothing you do will change anything," and you have a short-circuit somewhere that will say, “Don’t even bother trying.” The resistance here prevents you from generating the initial momentum that can propel you forward through the creative process. Applied to love, it is when you refuse to even date but are resentful that you haven’t met your mate yet.

If you resist Earth, you might hear yourself say things like, “That is overkill, and no one needs to put that much effort in.” You will go to sit down to do the work, and it won’t come easily, and instead of going inward, you push outward, “This is a waste of time!” “They are just trying to fill pages in a book, and this exercise is useless, give me the good stuff!” The Ego here is resentful and doesn’t want to put in effort without a guarantee that it will work out. At work, this is when you have great ideas but assume no one will listen, so you never take the time to write a proposal and approach your boss with your idea.

If you resist Air, there will be resistance around your identity and often fear or anxiety around how others perceive you. When it comes to taking a step back and seeking to elevate as Air, you will have a fear of appearing controlling, manipulative, needy, egotistical, and then some. Because of this, shifting gears feels like a big deal, even though it is a necessary part of evolution. You might fear that you will let others down or that they will judge you for the decisions you are making. Here is a great example of someone resisting air: let’s say a store owner notices that employees are taking lunch breaks that are too long, and it’s hurting the business. The store owner realizes the solution might be having the employee clock in and out for lunch to solve the labor problem. The store owner’s resistance would most likely manifest as hesitation, and the thought would be something like “It will cost too much to implement and there must be an easier way.” The truth is, there is a refusal to elevate. Clocking in and out and setting new expectations with the employees would most likely cause some sort of energetic conflict. On some level, we all know these things and thus the resistance to Air.

The resistance to Water is resistance to stillness, silence, healing. There is a fear of turning yourself “off.” You struggle to separate from your creation or goal and thus inadvertently stunt the growth through the creative process. When you sit down to relax, you will feel waves of guilt that you “should be doing something else” or that “everything will fall apart” or that you “should wait to rest once everything is up and running perfectly.” It is connected to taking on too much responsibility and needing to learn how to provide and care for yourself as you would care for others. This is seen outside of astrology when people refuse to put their phones down and literally believe that “things will fall apart without them” and that they must always remain “available.”
